Meet the Maker

Whitney Harris, Founder of Loom and Fire

A Practice of Intention

I came to sewing through necessity, stayed for the meditation, and built a practice around the belief that textiles hold stories worth preserving.

What began as mending my own clothes evolved into a deep study of traditional techniques, sustainable practices, and the quiet power of handwork. Every garment that passes through my hands receives the same care I'd give my own โ€” because in many ways, they become part of my story too.

I work slowly, deliberately, and with respect for both the craft and the people who trust me with their cherished pieces. Whether I'm hemming jeans, creating a custom garment, or teaching someone their first straight stitch, my goal is the same: to honor the fabric, the wearer, and the tradition.

"Slow craft is not about perfection. It's about presence. It's about choosing quality over speed, intention over convenience, and meaning over mass production."
